Pandas were going to be included, but they were removed for sensitivity reasons. There's more than likely a thread all about it with posts from Gaile herself. I'd say use the search function, but the horrid feature only works around 4 am central. >.>

Some sort of wacky Chinese law about not allowing pandas to be killed in video games, I hear...

and because of this nobody can have a panda? thats just stupid
Im an american, the most pandas I will see will be in a zoo.
If I want a panda pet then I want a panda pet, I should not be affected by chinese law.
if this makes it that they cant sell the game in china then so be it, guess they wont sell in china, theres a billion other countries they can sell to.

Why should ANet refuse to sell GW in China simply because of that? I think the people of China would love the oppurtunity to play Guild Wars, and GW won't sell in China if pandas can be killed in GW, because it is against Chinese law. So you are saying that you don't care if people in China cannot play GW... just as long as you can have a panda as a pet, everything is okay? Does this seem fair?
China has a population of 1.3 billion people. If ArenaNet can sell well to this country, they can make a good profit which can be extemely beneficual to them and us. If you want GW to be a good game, then ArenaNet needs to have a lot of money to pay for the updates and improvements. It is not like ArenaNet can click their fingers and boom - GW is a better game. They need money to do these things, and selling GW in China is a great way to accomplish this, due to their high population.

Actually there are only 192 countries, but, with relevance to the number, there 'are' over a billion people from china. When you are looking at it from that perspective only, well...
This game is based on an Asian theme, not American. And because this is an asian based game, having Panda's included is a big no no. Johnny no no actually^^. But if you want a pet, start a petition, you're gonna lose... obviously, but it would be fun to see how many people are oblivious to the sensitivity of this issue^^

There have been threads about this before, with the same answer. Pandas cannot be in the game because of some Chinese law or regulation.
